Modifications are applied in real-time to the terrain. While this offers significant advantages to your workflow, it also comes with limitations regarding the size of the working area (not the number of terrains you are working on, which could be any).
As a rough estimate: With medium hardware specs, you can comfortably work on an area sized 2000×2000.
RUNTIME
For optimal runtime performance, it’s essential to keep the area you’re operating on within reasonable limits. On mobile platforms, an area as small as 20×20 or 10×40 (for instance, for explosion craters) should operate smoothly.
