Bad Elf
Here is a quick tutorial on how to get this working for Unity:
-> Make sure there is nothing in the Hosts file that blocks access to the esotericsoftware.com server
-> Run install.bat with admin priviledges
-> Make sure that you have the update file 3.8.75 under %Userprofile%\Spine\updates if not copy it from the Spine folder
-> The tool will only work if you start it through Spine.com executable.
-> For me, in Unity i was able to make it work by installing spine runtime spine-unity-3.8-2021-07-12.unity (should work with other runtimes as well..)
-> After fully importing the runtime in Unity, go to you Project Folder – > Assets\Spine\Runtime\spine-csharp\
-> Open the two files : SkeletonJson.cs and SkeletonBinary.cs
-> Search for 3.8.75
-> You should find and comment the following lines in both files:
if (“3.8.75” == skeletonData.version)
throw new Exception(“Unsupported skeleton data, please export with a newer version of Spine.”);
-> Save the files and get back to Unity in order for it to import your changes.
You will now be able to export from spine and import successfully in Unity.
It looks like the developers said that “I just noticed that version 3.8.75 is a specially treated version that must have caused problems, and therefore issues the error message.” but i find it strange that the only cracked version i could find online is the one that has problems and is specially treated.
Anyway say thanks and have phun with this tool. If you are able to, don’t forget to buy it to support the developers.
